NMFS Proposed Rule 2007-2009 Herring Specs

“The Proposed Rule for the 2007-2009 Herring Fishery Specifications was published by NMFS in the Federal Register today.

Comments are due to NMFS no later than Feb 9, 2007.

NMFS proposes to implement the Council’s recommended specifications for the 2007 fishing year, including a quota in Area 1A of 50,000 mt, divided 5,000/45,000 seasonally. For 2008 and 2009, however, NMFS proposes to further reduce the 1A quota to 45,000 mt (5,000/40,000) and increase the Area 3 quota to 60,000 mt.” (Lori Steele)
