Fishery shut to mackerel trawlers (UK)

Mackerel fisheries are being closed to many of Scotland’s trawlers from next week, it has emerged.

The Scottish Executive has taken the decision as a precaution while it investigates overfishing. It is hoped they can re-open later in the year.

It follows raids last September on two processing factories.
