CHOIR Update

The New England Fishery Management Council is conducting public hearings to solicit comments on Draft Amendment 4 and Environmental Assessment to the Atlantic Herring Fishery Management Plan. The Draft Amendment document is available on the Council’s website ( NEFMC Herring Page ), or may be obtained by contacting the Council office.

As mentioned above, the issues being discusses in the Amendment can be found by going to the Herring Page on the Council site and clicking on “Draft Amendment 4 to the Atlantic Herring FMP”. Note that while the monitoring system development was initially being done in Amendment 4, it has been moved into Amendment 5. Amendment 4 is dealing primarily with issues pertaining to ACLs and AMs, specification, and other technical issues.
